The presence of two Akmal Anuar-linked Japanese concepts also underlines the movement of successful UAE-born restaurant ideas between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Hakkasan remains the polished special-occasion room, while Talea suits diners who want recognisable Italian luxury handled with precision. The new Bibs are better choices for a relaxed lunch or when enthusiasm for good cooking exceeds enthusiasm for a four-figure bill.
