Gymkhana: the new DIFC reservation
Gymkhana's Dubai opening was scheduled for 1 September at Gate Village, Building 7, according to DIFC. September reporting now describes it as open, and Visit Dubai lists the new outpost. That is a firmer starting point than another 'coming soon' headline. The London restaurant's Michelin stars belong to London; they should not be silently transferred to this address.
The brand's announcement names aloo chaat, tandoori lamb chops and kid goat methi keema among the London signatures coming to Dubai. Our booking advice: decide between a shared à la carte meal and a set format before confirming, then request the Dubai menu and cancellation terms. We have not independently confirmed a current Dubai set-menu price, so there is no invented headline bargain here.
La Lupa: a Design District lunch that can become dinner
La Lupa's own site places it in Dubai Design District and describes an all-day Mediterranean kitchen. Its menu page separates all-day breakfast, lunch from noon to 3pm and à la carte service from noon to 11pm. It also provides menu downloads and a reservation link. Those distinctions matter: opening hours and the availability of a particular menu are not the same thing.
This is the most flexible choice of the three on paper. A meeting that needs lunch, friends who want an early dinner and someone who remains emotionally attached to breakfast can start their planning here. Check the current dishes and prices through the official menu, not a delivery listing, where portions and charges may differ.
Sutēki: for a group that actually wants wagyu
Sutēki's official site calls it a wagyu-focused restaurant at Dubai Harbour. The venue lists dining Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm to midnight, on the first floor of Bay Marina beside Iris. Its FAQ says children above 14 are welcome at the first seating only, until 9pm. This is not a casual mixed-age family booking.
The published dress code is smart elegant, with no men's shorts, sportswear, caps or flip-flops. Check dietary suitability before reserving rather than assuming every steak-led restaurant can improvise an equivalent vegetarian evening. The point of a focused menu is focus; it is also a perfectly good reason to choose somewhere else when the group wants different things.
Which one fits your evening?
Start with location and format. Gymkhana belongs in a DIFC plan, La Lupa in a Design District day, and Sutēki in a Dubai Harbour evening. Trying to sample all three in one outing is a transport project with occasional food. Pick one, read the actual menu, and keep an established restaurant nearby as a fallback.
Ask for the total expected spend, table duration, deposit and cancellation deadline. New does not automatically mean better, and a beautifully lit room is not a substitute for a menu your table wants to eat. We will leave the first-visit verdict until there is a first visit to report.
