This is a planning budget, not a receipt from a meal we ate. BOCA’s DIFC location has closed, so its former lunch offer is withdrawn. These are spending limits; no replacement restaurant or bookable route has been verified.

The earlier plan used BOCA’s former three-course lunch at AED 155.15 including its stated fee. That price is retained as history, not a current option. We have not verified a replacement Michelin lunch at this budget.
The rules
The budget is for one person, with separate allowances for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks or snacks. Alcohol and transport sit outside it. It is not a record of a restaurant visit, and it does not establish that every meal can be bought at a Michelin-listed venue for the sums allocated. Price the actual orders before committing to a full day.
Build the day around neighbourhoods
Begin with a focused breakfast rather than a hotel buffet. Use lunch for a Bib Gourmand or affordable Michelin-selected restaurant, then reserve the largest share of the budget for dinner at somewhere like 3Fils, Kinoya, Goldfish or another strong neighbourhood address.
Do not schedule Meydan breakfast, Deira lunch and Palm dinner unless transportation sits outside the budget and patience is infinite. A Jumeirah and Al Wasl route offers better culinary density.
Where value actually comes from
Value is not the lowest price. It is the relationship between food, care and cost. A AED 180 meal can be excellent value when every plate earns its place; a AED 60 meal can be poor value when half the menu exists only to photograph well.
Dubai's official gastronomy research shows increasing demand for casual, family and accessible dining. Bib Gourmand recognition makes part of that market easier to identify, though brilliant unlisted restaurants remain everywhere.
Turn the budget into a real plan
Choose the day before the restaurant. A weekday set lunch cannot be used to cost a Saturday itinerary. Check menus for breakfast and dinner, write down the dishes and add drinks and any disclosed supplements. If the resulting total exceeds AED 500, change the order or the venue rather than quietly excluding something from the bill.
A second diner changes sharing options but also doubles a per-person allowance. Our table is for one; it is not an AED 500 couple's day. Keep the route compact, retain a small reserve and treat Michelin recognition as a useful filter, not a promise about prices. We have not tested a complete route at this total, and will not call it proven until there are actual orders and current bills behind it.

Michelin awards Bib Gourmand recognition to restaurants offering good-quality cooking at a good value.
Can you eat cheaply in Dubai?
Yes. Old Dubai and many neighbourhoods offer excellent affordable food. Luxury hotels dominate the imagery, not the entire dining reality.
Does the AED 500 budget include transport?
This editorial challenge treats transport separately because route choice and starting location change that cost substantially.
